The Company’s employment strategy is based on local recruitment and training. Although the DRC has a long tradition of mining - and significant expertise in mining and mineral technology - most residents in the Dikulushi area had little experience in mining before Anvil’s arrival. More than 93% of the workforce, however, are DRC nationals.
Anvil has set up an extensive in-house training program to build a local skills base, suitable for long term work at Anvil - or employment in other mining companies and alternative industries.
The training covers health, safety, plant operation, vehicle use, mechanics, administration, computer technology and a wide range of life skills.
Anvil’s local workforce is taking on more responsible and challenging roles as the workforce development takes shape. In the long term, these skills may prove to be one of Anvil’s most important economic contributions to the region.
